Festival of Trees and Winterfest Coming up!
The 3rd annual Festival of Trees will kick off at the 1905 Village Hall on Friday, December 4th at 6:00pm. This year’s Festival will have many new attractions, in addition to the many beautiful trees. There will be a gingerbread house decorating contest in December and coloring contests for the kids which will run through the month of November. A “Santa’s Workshop” will be set up in the 1905 Village Hall where kids will be able to mail letters to Santa and also a special “Snacks with Santa” lunch will be held where kids can come and eat with the jolly old elf himself. “Snacks with Santa” will be held on Saturday, December 19th from 12:00-1:00pm. This will be in addition to Santa’s regular annual visit on that day, which will be from 1:00-3:00pm. Cost for the “Snacks with Santa” lunch will be $1.00 per child to cover the cost of the food. Anyone or any group that is interested in participating in the “Festival of Trees” by decorating a tree or by making a gingerbread house should contact Virginia at 535-2110. She will get you all the information. We would like to have at least 35 trees again this year to adorn the 1905 Village Hall. All trees must be up and decorated by November 30th. Prizes for the best decorations, voted on by those who come and view the trees, will once again be given. I hope you will consider participating in the fun!
And even though Christmas will be over after the Festival of Trees, that doesn’t mean that we all have to hibernate for the rest of winter. Since Wisconsin is sometimes known as the state with two seasons-shovel and swat, let’s at least have some fun with gifts that we are given during the “shovel” season. Rather than complain about the cold weather and all the snow we have to move, let’s just plan on getting out and having fun in it. To help everyone do that, Main Street will once again be sponsoring “Winterfest” at the Embarrass River ATV Park on Saturday, January 16th. Just in case the weather is REALLY BAD that day, the event will be held on Saturday, January 23rd. In addition to the horse drawn trail rides through the park, other activities returning this year will be sledding on the sledding hill, snow-sculpture building, skating, and the soup contest in the afternoon at the 1905 Village Hall. New activities for this year will be snowball bowling and a candlelight snowshoe walk through the park during that evening. To help us prepare for this year’s event, we are asking people to please save your empty 1-liter soda or water bottles for us. Please bring them to the 1905 Village Hall. Thanks for your cooperation.
100th THS Graduation
Celebration A Huge Success!
Saturday, September 26th was surely one of the biggest days in our history, at least in some time. It was so big, that a couple of area television stations even came to Tigerton to do stories about a positive event that occurred in our community!
What I am talking about is the Tigerton High School Graduation Centennial Celebration. Several hundred former students and others came to Tigerton High School to check out the restoration of the 1919 High School, view the rest of the middle/high school building, and meet former teachers, staff and old friends. It was a day filled with memories for all those that once walked the halls of our Tigerton Schools. Nearly every graduating class since the early 1930’s was represented.
Most of the people who came through the halls marveled at how beautiful the newly restored school looked and how much things had changed over the years. Many also commented how lucky we were to have such a wonderful facility. As the people walked through the halls, they would go along and say this used to this teacher’s room, and that room was that teacher’s. It was a stroll down memory lane for many of the former students.
In addition to the tours and activities at the middle/high school buildings, several other buildings in our community were also open for tours, including the Tigerton Clinic, 1905 Village Hall, Tigerton Historical Society, Tigerton Elementary, Tigerton School Forest and Environmental Lab and the former Blue Ribbon School. There also was a home football game, with the Marion/Tigerton Thundercatz hosting the Weyerhaeuser/Birchwood Wildcats in the afternoon. The Thundercatz won the game by a score of 53-14.
The day of festivities wound down with a very well attended dance in the evening with music provided by “Hauser’s Hotshots”. The nearly twelve hour celebration, which took over a year to plan, concluded with an awesome fireworks display over the river after the dance
The commUNITY of Tigerton really threw quite a party in honor of the centennial of the 1st graduating class from Tigerton High School. None of it would have been possible without the support of this wonderful commUNITY, so the first “thank you” goes out to you-all the former and current residents of this commUNITY! THANK YOU! Thanks also to the many people who planned and organized this wonderful event!

Rent the Hall for your Party or Meeting
The restored 1905 Village Hall in downtown Tigerton is available to individuals or community groups for meetings, parties, or other public gatherings. “We want the building to be available for community use. We have a very friendly space, complete with a serving kitchen, and we want to see people take advantage of it,” said Tigerton Main Street Manager Virginia Kauffman.
Private parties can rent the space for $45 a day, and organizations can rent the space for $10 for 4 hours or $20 for up to 8 hours. “We see the space as ideal for showers, graduation parties, family reunions, and birthday parties, as well as club meetings, classes, and other civic gatherings,” said Main Street Vice President Kathi Polzin.
Interested parties may call the Main Street Office, which is housed permanently in the building, for details and reservations (715-535-2110).
